The conference in LA was incredibly well attended.  ESPA was excited to see so many service providers with a renewed interest in the success of the E-rate program.  We appreciated those providers that attended our "beverage and discussion" reception the night before.  The members of ESPA are truly interested in the potential opportunities and challenges the FCC’s “National Broadband Plan” will present to everyone in the US.  We know that there is not much clarity at this point.  We all recognized that this plan can go in many directions. It was great to get various service provider input.  The important outcome addressed in our discussion was that we, as service providers, need to get engaged in federal processes or we will be left with an outcome that someone else has decided on.

Catherine banker has prepared a presentation to assist in better detailing the position of ESPA and the needed discussions that will impact our industry. USAC, E-Rate and the National Broadband Plan will need to work hand in hand and any changes will need Provider input, such as ESPA's, to ensure the best possible benefit to the communities throughout the nation.

Please feel free to contact Catherine Banker for the presentation or if you need any more detail regarding ESPA or would like to join in on the discussions.

Thank You.
